conclusion
Based on the results from the magazine study and by comparing the results from 2015 and 2018, it can be concluded that the model diversity in the fashion industry has improved. All three magazines saw a rather significant increase in the amount of non-caucasian models featured in their magazine, which could be considered an improvement.

However, even though there was an increase, all three magazines are still nowhere near the minimum of 30%, which is a bit worrying. In three years these magazines barely experienced an increase of 10%, meaning that it would take another six years before these magazines would meat the 30% minimum of non-caucasian models and model diversity.

While reports indicated that 2017 was the best year for model diversity in the fashion industry so far, and this should of course be applauded, we are nowhere near where we should be. As long as the fashion industry continues to portray a single minded beauty image with only a small percentage of "token" models to create the impression of diversity, young girls will grow up to believe that there is only a small perspective of beauty according to the fashion industry.
